Champagne supernova

photo by Dana Berry, SkyWorks Digital, Inc.

Of all the stardust in the universe

to settle in the cradle
of my hips,

there is you.
There was you.

Always
you.

Parting your lips
that we might speak,

in tongues.
You bid me
come

to an
understanding;

this is how stars are born

gravity presses in
until fusion pushes back
& as long as the forces are equal
the star remains

stable.

  1. Damn, you're good. Freaking amazing title; I wish it were mine.

    This is my favorite:
    "gravity presses in
    until fusion pushes back"

    1. This is definitely sexy, and I get what you mean. But still, I love reading it as being about me talking to my first child. You know how hard the road has been, with her having Asperger's. So, remove all the sexuality, and this is really touching in the way it conveys the constant battle but also the understanding, the back-and-forth pushing, the fragile stability sometimes achieved. Beautiful read this way as well.

  6. Isn't this what makes our world wondrous? There is a constant struggle for dynamic equilibrium. Contradictions come together to create. This is the blueprint underlying everything, right from the physical cosmos to our psychology and of course our relationships too. Balance will be restored no matter what. If i can only keep this in mind, all the scariest challenges of life will present the most excitement. Thanks for reminding me.

Lovely write again, but that goes without saying :)

  7. This is stunning...parting your lips that we might speak...in a language that only they can understand..somewhere in the blue cosmos the answers await...in open hearts you can hear the beat...

  8. I agree with everyone...it's the balance, the parent and child, the cosmos...it's the moon! Now that is a far out title!

  12. I love every word, stanza, in this poem and the different meanings one can assign to them, often depending on one's mood. You really cut to the heart, x. I see there are two ginormous black holes on a collision course, but in millions of years' time, lol! That should be some fireworks display.
